What's up, Trainers!
Get ready, because things are about to get intense. Team GO Rocket is making another major move, and their "Delightful Days: Taken Over!" event is officially live from Monday, August 11th, to Monday, August 18th! 😱
This is your golden opportunity to snag some incredibly powerful Shadow Pokémon and, if you play your cards right, rescue the legendary Shadow Giratina from Giovanni himself.
So, who should you be hunting down? And how do you beat the notoriously tough Team GO Rocket Boss? Don't worry, I've got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know to dominate this event. Let's dive in!
🚀 Event TL;DR: The 3 Things You MUST Know
If you only remember three things about this event, make it these:
1. Rocket Invasions Everywhere
Team GO Rocket will be appearing way more often at PokéStops and in balloons. Get ready to battle!
2. Forget Frustration!
This is HUGE. During the event, you can use a Charged TM to change a Shadow Pokémon's useless "Frustration" attack to something actually good. This is a must-do for any Shadow Pokémon you plan to use! (Seriously, don't miss this! ★★★★★)
3. Shadow Kyogre Raids
On Saturday, August 16th, and Sunday, August 17th, the legendary Shadow Kyogre will be crashing 5-Star Raids. If you're lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny one!
🦹♀️ The Rocket Leader Breakdown: Who's Got the Goods?
Once you've collected enough Mysterious Components to build a Rocket Radar, you'll be able to hunt down the three leaders: Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra. This time, they're packing Shadow versions of the Johto starters.
So, who's the top priority? Hands down, you should be hunting for Sierra.
🥇 Top Priority: Sierra
* Her Pokémon: Shadow Totodile
* Recommendation: ★★★★★
* The Lowdown: (A Must-Have for Raids!) When you evolve this into Feraligatr and give it the Community Day move Hydro Cannon, it becomes an absolute monster. Shadow Feraligatr is a top-tier Water-type attacker for raids. Don't hesitate—farm this one.
🥈 Second Choice: Cliff
* His Pokémon: Shadow Cyndaquil
* Recommendation: ★★★★☆
* The Lowdown: (Great for Raids!) Shadow Typhlosion with its Community Day move Blast Burn is a very strong Fire-type attacker. The only reason it's not #1 is because the competition in the Fire-type category is incredibly stiff. Still a fantastic get.
🥉 Third in Line: Arlo
* His Pokémon: Shadow Chikorita
* Recommendation: ★★☆☆☆
* The Lowdown: (For PvP Fans) Shadow Meganium is built for PvP, specifically the Great League. If you're not a big GO Battle League player, you can safely make Arlo your lowest priority.
Bottom line: Use your Rocket Radars to hunt down Sierra. Stock up on as many high-IV Shadow Totodiles as you can. You won't regret having that raw power on your raid squads.
👑 The Final Showdown: How to Beat Giovanni & Snag Shadow Giratina
After completing your Special Research, you'll earn the Super Rocket Radar and the chance to face the big boss himself: Giovanni. He doesn't mess around, but with the right team, you can take him down.
✅ The Ultimate Anti-Giovanni Team
1. The Opener (Shield Breaker): Lucario
* Recommended Moveset: Counter / Power-Up Punch + Aura Sphere
* How to Use Him: Lucario's Fighting-type moves tear through Giovanni's Persian. More importantly, Power-Up Punch charges incredibly fast. Your main goal here is to spam it to burn through both of Giovanni's shields as quickly as possible.
2. The Mid-Game Sweeper: Togekiss
* Recommended Moveset: Charm / Ancient Power
* How to Use Her: Togekiss is your Swiss Army knife. Its Fairy-type move, Charm, absolutely shreds the main event, Giratina. It also puts a serious dent in Giovanni's possible second Pokémon, like Nidoking.
3. The Closer (The Heavy Hitter): Mamoswine
* Recommended Moveset: Powder Snow / Avalanche
* How to Use Him: Mamoswine is your cleanup crew. Its powerful Ice-type moves will finish off a weakened Giratina with ease. It also provides excellent coverage against other potential members of Giovanni's team, like Rhyperior or Nidoking.
✨ Pro Battle Tips:
* Bait the Shields: Giovanni will always use his shields on your first two Charged Attacks. Use a fast-charging move like Power-Up Punch to get them out of the way cheap and fast.
* Use the Switch Clock: When you switch Pokémon, there's a brief pause in the battle where your opponent stops attacking. Use this to your advantage to catch a breath or avoid a big incoming attack.
Once you've defeated Giovanni, you'll get your chance to catch the incredible Shadow Giratina (Altered Forme). This Pokémon is a defensive tank and a PvP legend in both the Ultra and Master Leagues. Use a Golden Razz Berry, take a deep breath, and make those Premier Balls count!
And that's the full scoop on the "Joyful Days: Takeover" event! This is one of the best times to seriously upgrade your teams with powerful new attackers. Plan your strategy, hunt down the right leaders, and take down the boss!
Good luck out there, Trainers!
