What's up, Trainers!

The moment we've been waiting for is almost here. This weekend, the lord of the seas, Shadow Kyogre, rises from the depths to challenge us in 5-Star Shadow Raids! Taking down a Shadow Raid Boss is way tougher than a normal one, so you'll need to come prepared.

Not sure what to bring to the fight? Don't worry, I've got you covered. This is your complete guide to the best counters and strategies based on your trainer level. Let's dive in!

⚡️ First Things First: Know Kyogre's Weaknesses

Let's start with the basics. As a pure Water-type, Kyogre has just two weaknesses:
* ⚡️ Electric (1.6x Damage)
* 🌿 Grass (1.6x Damage)
Every strategy we build will revolve around your strongest Electric and Grass-type attackers.

👑 For Level 50 Trainers (The Hardcore Crew)

This strategy is for top-tier players armed with XL Candy and the best Pokémon in the game. The goal here is to beat the clock with the fewest trainers possible.

✅ Top-Tier Counters (In Order of Priority)

* Mega Sceptile (Fury Cutter / Frenzy Plant*): The undisputed king of Grass-type attackers. It will absolutely shred Kyogre's health bar.
* Kartana (Razor Leaf / Leaf Blade): A non-legendary glass cannon. In Sunny weather, its damage output is off the charts.
* Zekrom (Charge Beam / Fusion Bolt*): The king of Electric-types. It's the perfect blend of power and bulk.
* Shadow Raikou (Thunder Shock / Wild Charge): A beastly Electric attacker thanks to the Shadow bonus.
* Mega Manectric (Thunder Fang / Wild Charge): A great strategic choice that boosts the attack of all other Electric-types in the raid.

✅ Raid Strategy

* Minimum Trainers: 3. This is possible only with Party Play and if everyone has a maxed-out team of the Pokémon listed above.
* Stable Group: 4. This provides a comfortable buffer for unexpected situations, like Kyogre using Blizzard.
* The Plan: One player should lead with a Mega to boost the team's damage. Everyone else focuses on dealing maximum damage with their best counters. Coordinate when to use Purified Gems before the raid starts!

💪 For Level 40 Trainers (The Veteran Squad)

This is for experienced players who have a solid roster of powered-up Pokémon. The goal is to be an efficient and high-damage contributor to the raid.

✅ Recommended Counters (In Order of Priority)

* Mega Sceptile / Mega Manectric / Mega Venusaur: A Mega Evolution is still your best lead. Pick the one you have the most energy for.
* Zekrom, Kartana, Raikou, Zapdos: Level 40 legendary Pokémon are your best friends here.
* Shadow Magnezone (Spark / Wild Charge): An excellent and more accessible alternative to Shadow Raikou.
* Shadow Venusaur (Vine Whip / Frenzy Plant*): A fantastic budget Shadow Pokémon that packs a punch.
* Roserade (Razor Leaf / Grass Knot): Easy to power up and still a very powerful Grass-type attacker.

✅ Raid Strategy

* Minimum Trainers: 4. This requires everyone to have solid Level 40 counters and to use Party Play.
* Recommended Group: 5-6. With this many trainers, you can clear the raid easily, even saving some Purified Gems.
* The Plan: Have one or two players lead with a Mega. Everyone else should use their strongest Electric and Grass attackers. If you're short on legendaries, don't be afraid to use Pokémon like Roserade and Magnezone.

🌱 For Level 30 & Below (New & Returning Players)

This strategy is for newer players who are still building their teams. The goal is to contribute effectively and be a valuable part of a larger group.

✅ Recommended Counters (Best Budget & Accessible Options)

* Roserade (Razor Leaf / Grass Knot): Roselia is a common spawn, and evolving it gives you a solid attacker right away.
* Magnezone (Spark / Wild Charge): Even if you missed its Community Day, evolving a high-level wild Magnemite is a great option.
* Leafeon / Jolteon (Lure Module / Name Trick): Evolving a high-level Eevee is the ultimate budget-friendly way to get a raid-ready attacker.
* Venusaur / Sceptile (Vine Whip / Fury Cutter): Old Community Day Pokémon. Even without their special moves, they do the job.
* Torterra (Razor Leaf / Solar Beam): Turtwig is another common spawn that can help you fill out your team.

✅ Raid Strategy
* Recommended Group: 6-8+ players. The more, the better. Your key to success is joining larger groups.
* The Plan: Do NOT use the 'Recommended' party! Always build your own team targeting the boss's weaknesses (Electric & Grass). It's better to use a high-level Pokémon with so-so IVs than a low-level one with perfect IVs. Your job isn't to be the top attacker, but to deal consistent damage and, most importantly, help use Purified Gems when the boss becomes enraged.

✨ Essential Tips for ANY Shadow Raid!

* Don't Hoard Purified Gems

When Shadow Kyogre becomes enraged, its defense skyrockets. Using Purified Gems will calm it down, allowing everyone to deal more damage. It takes a total of eight gems to have an effect. Do your part!

* Party Up!

Always use the Party Play feature with friends. The "Party Power" special attack is a massive damage boost that can turn the tide of the battle.

* Check the Weather

If it's Rainy, your Electric-type attacks will be boosted. If it's Sunny, your Grass-type attacks will be boosted. Use this to your advantage!

This weekend is your chance to add a beast to your collection. With the right prep and teamwork, you'll take down Shadow Kyogre in no time. Good luck, and may your catches be shiny!
