What's up, Trainers!

The "Dark Skies" event has begun, and with it, a huge question is echoing through the community: "Can you actually solo these new 4-star and 5-star Dynamax Raids?" The short answer is no, but there's a way you can still raid even if you're playing by yourself!

Today, we're breaking down how to do it, and the absolute minimum number of trainers you'll need to win.

1. Why You Can't Solo 4-Star & 5-Star Dynamax Raids

Let's get this out of the way first: 4-star and 5-star raid bosses are designed to be physically impossible to solo. Even a Level 50 trainer with a perfect team of maxed-out counters can't deal enough damage (DPS) to beat the timer. These are meant to be group activities.

But here's the most important part...

2. The Ultimate Weapon for Solo Players: Remote Raiding!

Just because you don't have a local group doesn't mean you have to miss out on catching legends! Your best friend is the Remote Raid Pass combined with remote raiding apps and communities.

  • Apps like Poke Genie or PokeRaid are your ticket to raiding globally. You can either host a raid at a gym near you and have 5 trainers from around the world join you, or you can join a raid lobby for any Pokémon you want.

This is the modern way to "solo" play—you're never truly alone!

3. The Minimum Trainers You Need (Max 4 Players!)

Now for the real strategy. You've got your remote team, but remember, Dynamax Battles are limited to a maximum of 4 players! Knowing how many you actually need is key.

This guide assumes all players are high-level (40+) with optimal counters.

🐉 Dynamax Latios & Latias

  • Minimum Players: 3 (for experts)
  • Difficulty: Hard. With no 4x weakness and high stats, a duo is nearly impossible. You'll need 3 trainers with top-tier dealers like Gigantamax Gengar to have a real shot.

❄️ Dynamax Articuno

  • Minimum Players: 3 recommended
  • Difficulty: Tricky. It has a 4x weakness to Rock, but with no available Dynamax Rock attackers, you have to rely on a secondary weakness with Gigantamax Charizard. A duo is not recommended.

⚡️ Dynamax Zapdos

  • Minimum Players: 2 (for experts)
  • Difficulty: Medium. This raid is very duo-able! The top-tier dealer Gigantamax Lapras hits Zapdos's Ice weakness hard. Two high-level trainers with strong Lapras teams can definitely do it.

🔥 Dynamax Moltres

  • Minimum Players: 2 (for experts)
  • Difficulty: Doable. While you can't hit the 4x Rock weakness with a Dynamax Pokémon, the Water-type weakness is easily exploited by the insanely powerful Gigantamax Inteleon. A duo is a worthy challenge.

💧 Dynamax Suicune

  • Minimum Players: 3 recommended
  • Difficulty: Hard. Suicune is notoriously bulky and defensive. Even with a great counter like Gigantamax Venusaur, you'll likely run out of time with just two players.

⚡️ Dynamax Raikou

  • Minimum Players: 4 recommended
  • Difficulty: Very Hard. Raikou is weak to Ground, and there are no available Dynamax Ground dealers. You have to rely on the raw, neutral damage of Gigantamax Gengar. Even a trio will find this tough. Best to go in with a full team of 4.

🔥 Dynamax Entei

  • Minimum Players: 3 recommended
  • Difficulty: Hard. Entei is a massive HP tank. While Gigantamax Inteleon is a fantastic counter, a duo will be a very close call. Best to bring a third trainer.

⭐ 4-Star: Dynamax Toxtricity

  • Minimum Players: 2 is possible
  • Difficulty: Easy. It's a 4-star, so it has less HP. Even without a Dynamax Pokémon to hit its 4x Ground weakness, the raw neutral damage from two Gigantamax Gengars should be more than enough to win.
